USS Constellation The USS Constellation, CV64. She is a Kitty Hawk class aircraft carrier, commisioned in 1961. She has "conventional" propulsion, with 8 boilers, that turn 4 shafts. She can do 30+ knots with 280,000 shaft horse power. She carries a normal compliment of 80+ planes, and 4800 crew.
CV64 Conning Tower A close up of Constellation's conning tower.
USS Stethem The USS Stethem, DDG 63 is a new Arleigh Burke class destroyer. Designed for all aspects of warfare, she has the newest, best equipment. She has 325 crew. Stethem was commisioned in 1995.
USS Boxer The USS Boxer, LHD4 is a Wasp class amphibious assualt ship. She can carry up to 35 helicopters, and/or VSTOL (Harrier) aircraft. She also has a docking well that can accomidate 3 LCAC (Landing Craft - Air Cushion) craft for landing up to 2000 troops. Boxer has a crew of 1100, and was commisioned in 1995.
LCAC-13 LCAC-13 is a Landing Craft Air Cushion hovercraft. These hovercraft are designed to fit into the docking wells of landing ship docks (LSDs) and LHDs like the Boxer above. They can transport troops, tanks and vehicles right up onto the beach. The troops no longer have to get feet wet! There were several LCACs being "flown". They seemed to be keeping other boats away from the Navy ships. When a boat would try to enter the restricted area, an LCAC would angrily move over and block the way blowing water all around.
USS Rentz The USS Rentz, a Oliver Hazzard Perry class Frigate.
Netzahuacoyotl The Mexican Navy's Netzahuacoyotl is a WW-II era destroyer that served the US Navy as the USS Steinaker, DD863. The Steinaker was commisioned in 1945. Chances are, that if the Mexicans weren't running this beautiful ship, the US Navy would have scrapped her long ago! It's great to see a ship like this still operating! You can also see a US Coast Guard cutter and the Blockbuster Video blimp in this picture.
